Alex Oliveira and Randy Brown are getting the chance to start 2021 on the winning track.
MMA Fighting confirmed with sources with knowledge of the matchup that Oliveira (22-9-1, 2 NC) and Brown (12-4) will meet in a welterweight bout at a Feb. 27 UFC Fight Night show with a location still to be announced.
The bout was first reported by Combate.
Oliveira saw a two-fight win streak snapped in October at UFC 254 as he was submitted inside of a round by undefeated newcomer Shavkat Rakhmonov. Entering that contest, “Cowboy” had scored back-to-back decision wins over Peter Sobotta and Max Griffin. The Brazilian veteran has an 11-7 record in the UFC with one no contest.
Brown, 6-4 in the UFC, also had a win streak end when he was knocked out by Vicente Luque this past August. That was Brown’s lone fight of 2020. He had a spotless 2019 campaign, defeating Warlley Alves by submission and Bryan Barberena by TKO.
The Feb. 27 Fight Night event is expected to be headlined by a bout between light heavyweight contenders Dominick Reyes and Jiri Prochazka.
