In a nearly 30-minute conversation, Poatan reacted to the video posted by Dean explaining exactly where the area where strikes are prohibited is located, clarifying his decision.

“This video is a joke. The guy puts a coin and says here you can’t hit, but there’s an area around it where you put a limit. The fact is that if he signaled during the fight, my opponent would certainly think about the possibility of the fight being stopped there,” said Pereira, reiterating his desire to see the referee penalized. “Something needs to happen. Dana doesn’t fire fighters, why not referees?”
No More Dean
The Brazilian did not mention appealing to the athletic commission to change the fight result to no contest, but made it clear that he will no longer accept having a fight refereed by Herb Dean under any circumstances.
“My dream was never to feel hungry. I achieved much more by securing a peaceful future for my children and my family,” Pereira said. “I don’t know how the refereeing of a fight is defined, but if in my next fight the commission insists that it has to be him, I won’t fight anymore, period. Thank God I am very happy with everything I have already achieved.”
Asked by “Moicano” if he felt any effects from the concussion the night after the fight, “Poatan” revealed that he had head exams on Tuesday and is now awaiting the results confirming that everything is OK.
“I didnt feel any different symptoms in my head except for the normal local pain due to the blows. When the exam results come, if everything is OK, I will make myself available to the UFC for the rematch. My focus now is 100% on the heavyweight division. Actually my focus is the belt, but whatever the UFC decides, I will be ready.”
