Video: Anthony Hernandez on upset win, bonus at UFC 258: ‘Now I can get my kids the house they deserve’

Anthony Hernandez shocked the world at UFC 258—not just because he beat Rodolfo Vieira, but because he submitted the multi-time ADCC champion.

And for those who doubted him, Hernandez was happy to stick it to them all.

“Fluffy” overcame a tough start to the opening round before turning the tables from the heavily favored Vieira at the end of the first. In the second, Hernandez took over, landing a flurry of punches, kicks, flying knees, and elbows that didn’t put the exhausted, yet incredibly durable Vieira away. Finally, Hernandez locked in an arm-in guillotine to force the tap and earn himself a performance bonus in the process.

In an interview with MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck, Hernandez gave his thoughts on the victory less than 12 hours after it occurred, his thoughts on the betting lines and being overlooked, not knowing who Vieira was when the fight was offered to him, the durability of his opponent, Kevin Holland’s congratulatory tweet, what the win and bonus does for his family, and more.
