Anthony Smith vs. Glover Teixeira Booked for UFC Lincoln Main Event on April 25

Two former light heavyweight title challengers will square off in the UFC Lincoln main event.

The Las Vegas-based promotion recently announced that Anthony Smith will lock horns with Glover Teixeira at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Neb., on April 25. Four other bouts were confirmed for the card as well: Antonina Shevchenko vs. Cynthia Calvillo at flyweight; Evan Dunham vs. Michael Johnson at lightweight; Andrew Sanchez vs. Zak Cummings at middleweight and Anthony Rocco Martin vs. David Zawada at welterweight.

The Fight Night show is likely to stream on ESPN+ and will be the UFC’s second trip to Lincoln. The organization’s last visit occurred in August 2018, when Justin Gaethje scored a first-round knockout victory against James Vick in the UFC Fight Night 135 headliner.

The 31-year-old Smith posted a 1-1 record in the Octagon in 2019. After dropping a five-round verdict to Jon Jones in a championship clash at UFC 235 in March, “Lionheart” returned to submit Alexander Gustafsson with a rear-naked choke in the fourth frame of their headlining matchup at UFC Fight Night 153.

Teixeira, who dropped a five-round verdict to Jones in a title bout April 2014, enters the contest on a three-fight winning streak. The 40-year-old Brazilian earned back-to-back submission triumphs against Karl Roberson and Ion Cutelaba before garnering a split-decision win over Nikita Krylov in his most recent outing at UFC Fight Night 158.
