Ashley Yoder vs. Jinh Yu Frey set for UFC event on July 31

A strawweight battle is set for the UFC’s summer slate.

Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a matchup between Ashley Yoder and Jinh Yu Frey has been added to the UFC’s fight card on July 31. While the event does not have an official venue or location announced, UFC President Dana White stated following Saturday’s UFC 262 event that the plan for the rest of 2021 is to host Fight Night events at UFC APEX in Las Vegas.

Yoder makes her fourth octagon appearance in a little less than 12 months with the hope of getting back in the win column. “The Spider Monkey” snapped a two-fight skid at November’s UFC Vegas 14 event, but was on the losing end of a unanimous decision to Angela Hill in their second meeting at UFC Vegas 21 in March.

Frey looks to make it two straight victories after earning her first promotional win at UFC Vegas 21 over Gloria de Paula. The 35-year-old has gotten her hand raised over the likes of Herica Tiburcio, Ashley Cummins and Minna Grusander under the Invicta FC banner and moved up to 115 pounds to sign with the UFC in 2020. She dropped her first two octagon bouts to Kay Hansen and Loma Lookboonmee.
