Bellator 256 Weigh-in Results: Main Event Set; 1 Fighter Misses Weight

Bellator
MMA
‘s second show on Showtime will see its light heavyweight
grand prix begin as former champion Ryan Bader
faces ex-Ultimate
Fighting Championship
champion Lyoto
Machida
in the
Bellator 256
main event, which is a rematch nearly a decade in
the making.

The five-round main event is now official after the weigh-ins took
place. Both veteran main eventers had no trouble making weight,
which was to be expected from the professionals. 25 of the 26 mixed
martial artists on the 13-fight card made their contracted weights
with the exception being Jeffrey
Glossner
, who was 1.8 pounds over the bantamweight limit.

Looking to rebound from losing his light heavyweight title, Bader
(27-6, 1 NC) is still the promotion’s heavyweight champion. Last
time out, the 37-year-old was knocked out by Vadim
Nemkov
. Since Bader’s prior fight was a no contest against
Cheick
Kongo
, his last win was in January 2019 against faded
heavyweight legend Fedor
Emelianenko
. “Darth” officially hit the scales at 205 pounds on
the dot.

The winner of the pair’s first meeting in 2012 was Machida (26-10).
“The Dragon” knocked out Bader in under two rounds. Now 42, Machida
is riding a two-fight losing streak as he suffered split decisions
to both Gegard
Mousasi
and Phil Davis.
The Brazilian fighter will look to bounce back to his winning ways
and weighed 204.6 for this bout.

The five-fight Bellator 256 main card will air live on Showtime
starting at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. Before that is the preliminary
card, which will air free on YouTube starting at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m.
PT.
