Per the Hawaii Police Department on Tuesday, Penn was arrested early that morning for allegedly attacking another man. The victim, 45 years of age, was reportedly punched and kicked repeatedly until allowed to leave, contact the police and seek treatment for his wounds. Penn was arrested almost 11 hours later in Hilo, Hawaii, where he was charged with third-degree assault and released on a $1,000 bail.

The official statement from the department reads as follows:
“At 1 a.m., police responded to a report of an assault at a residence on Kanoa Street in Hilo. The 45-year-male victim reported that Penn punched and kicked him multiple times before the victim was able to leave the area and contact police. The victim later sought medical treatment for his injuries at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. At 11:50 a.m., officers located Penn on Lehua Street in Hilo, where he was arrested without incident.”
Hardly Penn’s First Brush With the Law
The former lightweight and welterweight champion is scheduled for his court appearance for this charge on Dec. 2 in Hilo District Court. This hearing is one of many that Penn has had to participate in this last year, with the Hawaiian arrested several times previously in regards to his housing situation with his mother. According to her, Penn has subjected her to “extreme psychological abuse” while allegedly stealing from her and claiming repeatedly that she is an impostor replacing his mother.
As a result of these many infractions and others, including chasing off a neighbor while wielding a machete, a one-year protection order was put into effect that was in place to keep Penn away from her. He has violated that order numerous times, coming within 100 yards of her house or place of employ while also contacting her through various means.
