Nickal Suffered First Career Defeat in May
One of the most highly-touted prospects in recent memory, Nickal is coming off his first career defeat, a second-round technical knockout loss to Reinier de Ridder at UFC Des Moines on May 3. The 29-year-old fought twice on Dana White’s Contender Series before making his Octagon debut in March 2023, when he scored a first-round submission of Jamie Pickett. Nickal would go on to earn triumphs over the likes of Valentine Woodburn, Cody Brundage and Paul Craig before falling to de Ridder.
