Rob Font will get to remain on Noche UFC card thanks to a late opponent change.
The bantamweight veteran, who was originally supposed to face Raul Rosas Jr., will now square off against David Martinez on Sept. 13 in San Antonio, Texas. MMAjunkie.com was first to report the new 135-pound booking. Roas Jr. withdrew from the event due to undisclosed reasons. Noche UFC — also known as UFC Fight Night 259 — takes place at Frost Bank Center and is headlined by a featherweight tilt pitting Diego Lopes against Jean Silva.
Martinez Impressed in UFC Debut
Martinez was originally slated to face Quang Le on the card before being upgraded to a more high-profile adversary. The 27-year-old Mexican earned a promotional contract on Dana White’s Contender Series this past October before scoring a first-round KO of Saimon Oliveira in his Octagon debut at UFC on ESPN 64 on March 29. “Black Spartan” has been victorious in 12 of 13 professional outings overall — with 10 triumphs coming via KO or TKO.
Font has 19 UFC appearances to his credit over the the course of a promotional tenure that began in 2014. The New England Cartel representative is coming off back-to-back wins over Kyler Phillips and Jean Matsumoto.
