In a post on his Instagram account, Ikram Aliskerov revealed that a broken toe has forced him to pull out of a middleweight clash against Brunno Ferreira at UFC 318 on July 19. Aliskerov shared a video of a sparring session with Rinat Fakhretdinov when the injury apparently occurred.
“I was in great shape, unfortunately trouble happens,” Aliskerov wrote. “I’ll be back very soon, Insha’Allah.”
UFC 318 Takes a Hit Due to Sparring Injury
It’s currently unknown if Ferreira will remain on the card with a little more than two weeks remaining before the event. UFC 318 takes place at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans and is headlined by Dustin Poirier’s farewell fight against Max Holloway.
The 32-year-old Aliskerov has been victorious in three of his four Octagon appearances, with his lone defeat coming at the hands of ex-champ Robert Whittaker. Most recently, the Dagestani scored a first-round technical knockout victory against Andre Muniz at UFC Kansas City this past April.
