Topuria is currently taking a short hiatus from action to deal with personal issues. Rumors of an impending divorce between Topuria and his wife, Giorgina Uzcategui Badell, have been afloat for a while now. The UFC lightweight champion recently revealed he is facing allegations of domestic abuse, which he plans to disprove. While Topuria did not name anyone, he says he has been facing threats of allegations if financial demands aren’t met. Topuria claims that while the attempted extortion has been going on for a while, he initially stayed silent because of his children.

Mitchell believes the allegations of domestic abuse against Topuria are true. “Thug Nasty” further says that Topuria doesn’t deserve the custody of his children. Mitchell urges Topuria to repent and ask for forgiveness from God. Mitchell also took the opportunity to call out Topuria’s brother, Aleksandre.
Mitchell: ‘You’re a Coward’
“That bitch puts his hands on a woman,” Mitchell said on Instagram. “I grew up without a dad. Never seen my dad, never will see my dad. And you know what? I’d rather not see my dad than have my dad beating on my mom. That will get you killed around these parts son, that s—t ain’t no joke…You’re a straight-up bitch for that. Your brother’s a bitch too. I’ll fight him. I’ll beat his ass… You don’t deserve to see your kids, son, because you put hands on their mother. You’re a coward… Ilia, you need to repent, return to Jesus Christ, and if you repent you won’t rot in hell bro… And probably stop drinking too. You probably got a drinking problem.”
Both Topuria (17-0) and Mitchell (18-3) were highly touted, undefeated prospects when they faced each other in 2022. Mitchell’s undefeated record ended with a second-round submission loss to Topuria. While “El Matador” went on to win the featherweight title, Mitchell went 2-2 in his next four, straying farther away from the title picture. Mitchell dropped to bantamweight earlier this year, defeating Said Nurmagomedov in his 135-pound debut. Meanwhile, Aleksandre Topuria (7-1) made his UFC debut earlier this year and has racked up two wins so far.
