Prates recently posted a video of himself eating Nutella pancakes wearing a Papakha, the traditional Dagestani headgear. Hinting that the clip was enough to make his point, Prates ended with a gesture of zipping up his lips.

Prates previously had Makhachev stunned by devouring Nutella during fight week. Makhachev challenged Jack Della Maddalena for the welterweight title at UFC 322 last month. Meanwhile, Prates took on former welterweight champion Leon Edwards on the same card. Despite moving up from lightweight, Makhachev couldn’t afford the luxury of having Nutella pancakes during fight week like Prates.
“Today I saw this guy Carlos Prates. He eat Nutella cake during in the lunchtime, in the fight week. It’s something I have never done,” Makhachev told ESPN.
Crowded Division
Makhachev (28-1) went on to dethrone Maddalena via a dominant unanimous decision. Prates (23-7) also emerged as a legitimate contender by sending Edwards to the shadow realm in the second round.
The welterweight division currently has no lack of contenders. Michael Morales also announced his arrival in the title picture with a knockout win over Sean Brady at UFC 322. Meanwhile, Ian Garry, the only guy to beat Prates in UFC, recently beat former champ Belal Muhammad to lay claim to contender status. However, Makhachev wants to defend his title against former champ Kamaru Usman, who earned his first win since 2021 earlier this year.
