Cesar Almeida trains with Strickland at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas. Videos of Strickland knocking out or beating up sparring partners in the gym are common. However, Almeida reveals that Strickland is a healthy presence in the gym. Almeida says Strickland puts his heart into helping his teammates in the gym. “Cesinha” believes Strickland became a UFC champion because he pushes himself to his limits every day.

Good Energy
“I like training with him because the guy is crazy,” Almeida told MMAjunkie.com. “He’s so crazy but good energy, good heart, and puts all the team up to keep going, keep strong, keep training everyday. The guy is a former champion because he never stops and puts this energy in the gym. Your arm hurts, your leg hurts, but you need to keep training non-stop.”
Strickland (29-7) won the middleweight title in an upset against Israel Adesanya in 2023. However, Strickland lost the title via a controversial decision against Dricus Du Plessis in his first defense. Strickland rebounded with a win over Paulo Costa but failed to regain his title in a rematch against Du Plessis this past February.
Meanwhile, Almeida (7-1) is scheduled to welcome debutant Cezary Oleksiejczuk at UFC on ESPN 73 on Dec. 13 at the Apex in Las Vegas. Almeida is 3-1 in the UFC and coming off an upset knockout win over Abdul Razak Alhassan. Meanwhile, Cezary (16-3), who is Michal Oleksiejczuk’s brother, earned his contract on Dana White’s Contender Series with a knockout win over Theo Haig this past September.
