Kron Gracie Vows to Change His Game After UFC Release

Kron Gracie vows to avoid his favorite position going forward in his career.

Gracie suffered a slam knockout loss against Bryce Mitchell in his last UFC fight in December 2024. Gracie’s contract was not renewed, and he was officially released from the UFC this past June. While Gracie lost three of his four UFC fights, he believes he should have been allowed to continue in the promotion due to the level of competition he faced.

However, Gracie understands that he might have lost fans due to his style, which has often been criticized as lackluster. Gracie believes one of his favorite positions, the guard, might have proven to be detrimental to his career. Gracie vows never to pull guard again going forward.

Never Again

“At the time, I was fighting a Top 15 guy, and I think like anything that was gonna happen, I would think I was going to get another fight,” Gracie told MMAFighting.com. “Just generally, fighting a top guy, if you win or lose, you should be able to stay in the game. But I think the way that I fought, the way I pulled guard, and the way that it happened, a lot of fans were disappointed and I lost a lot of stock in that transition… But, I can understand. It’s a business. If pulling guard is going to be that much of a detriment to the ability to keep fighting, and the ability to make money, then f—k it, I won’t pull guard ever again. And I already made that decision that I’m done with pulling guard.”

Gracie (5-3) is scheduled to return to action against Thomas Picciano (7-3) on Dec. 12 at Victory Fighting League in New York.
