Chris Vasil More Than Ready for Tyrone Henderson at CageSport 50

Though he hadn’t originally planned on making his pro debut when he did last year at Supreme Showdown 2 in February, featherweight prospect Chris Vasil made the most of his opportunity by picking up the win in that bout and following it up with a victory in his second pro fight three months later.

Vasil’s year could have been even busier, but still, he’s not complaining about being able to pick up two wins in his first two fights as a pro.

“I had three fights lined up, but one fell through, but I think it went well, Vasil told MMAWeekly.com. “I stepped up two weight classes for my first fight, I stepped up one weight class for my next fight, and I won them both. I thought it was great for a first year.”

When it comes to how he performed in his bouts, Vasil feels like his bouts weren’t representative of what he’s capable of, but at the end of the day he’s happy to have picked up two unanimous decision wins.

“I think I could have done a lot more,” said Vasil. “I don’t feel that my whole skillset was showcased, but I think overall I performed well. I did what I had to do to get the job done, and in the end that’s all that matters.”

Just under a year since his last bout, Vasil (2-0) gets his first bout of 2018 when he takes on Tyrone Henderson (5-4-1) in a main card 145-pound fight at CageSport 50 on Saturday in Tacoma, Wash.

“My first pro fight I took on three days’ notice, so I feel much better going into this year,” Vasil said. “I’ve had a longer training camp going into this fight. (Henderson) is a veteran of the cage, so I’m excited for it and to see where it can take me.
