Merab Dvalishvili is going for every record.
Dvalishvili defended his bantamweight title against Cory Sandhagen via unanimous decision in the co-main event at UFC 320 on Saturday in Las Vegas. This was Dvalishvili’s third title defense this year. “The Machine” subsequently revealed plans to defend his title again in December. Dvalishvili’s coach, John Wood, believes there’s no stopping the Georgian champion if he decides to fight again this year. Wood claims there’s an 80% chance that Dvalishvili competes again this year.

“If he wants to, there’s no stopping him,” Wood told Daniel Cormier. “He’ll definitely want to. I’d say there’s a 80% chance that he will actually do it.”
“DC” reminded Wood that no one has ever defended their title four times in the same year. Wood says that’s exactly why Dvalishvili will want to do it, to smash another record.
Wood: We’ll Probably See You in December
“That’s exactly why he’ll do it,” Wood continued. “I think that you put records in front of him, he’s gonna break them all. He broke so many records tonight. I guarantee you we’re probably gonna see you again in December.”
Dvalishvili became the only fighter in UFC history to land over 100 takedowns in his career. Dvalishvili also landed 20 takedowns, the most ever in a UFC title fight, against Sandhagen. Dvalishvili is currently riding a 14-fight winning streak, the fourth-longest in UFC history.
