Ian Garry believes Belal Muhammad has a big ego.
Garry takes on Muhammad in the co-main event at UFC Qatar on Nov. 22 at the ABHA Arena in Doha. The Irishman recently mocked Muhammad’s performance in his title loss to Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315 this past May.

Muhammad originally expected to defend his title for the first time against Shavkat Rakhmonov, who couldn’t accept the fight due to an injury. Maddalena was a heavy underdog going into his title shot against “Remember the Name.” However, Maddalena put the champion on the back foot from the opening bell and pieced him up through five rounds. Muhammad surprisingly chose to strike with the Australian boxer instead of resorting to his signature wrestling. By the time Muhammad showed intent in his takedown attempts, it was too little, too late. Muhammad only managed to land three takedowns out of nine total attempts.
Garry Hopes Muhammad Tries to Stand with Him
Garry believes Muhammad’s ego made him stand on the feet with Maddalena. Garry hopes Muhammad is confident enough to try the same with him, as it’ll likely make it an easier night at the office for “The Future.”
“Belal Muhammad, when he was defending his title in Montreal, Canada, thought that he could outbox a boxer,” Garry said. “He was an idiot and he was wrong. I hope he thinks he can do that to me. It would make my life easier.”

Garry suffered his lone professional loss against Shavkat Rakhmonov last year via a hard-fought unanimous decision. He has since rebounded with a decision win over a surging Carlos Prates. Meanwhile, Muhammad was unbeaten in 11 straight outings before his loss to Maddalena.
