Makhachev will challenge Maddalena for the welterweight title in the main event at UFC 322 on Nov. 15 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Vickers doesn’t think Makhachev has as much of a chin as Belal Muhammad, whom Maddalena dethroned at UFC 315 earlier this year. Vickers believes Maddalena, known for his proven knockout power, could get Makhachev out early if he connects clean. However, he also trusts his pupil to drag it out if needed and break Makhachev down late into the fight.

Coach: Makhachev’s Chin Not Equal to Muhammad’s
“I just don’t think Islam has the chin that Belal has… We know for a fact that if Jack clips someone clean on the chin, they can go over,” Vickers told Submission Radio. “So it could happen in the first minute, it could happen in the 24th minute… Jack likes long fights… Belal has reputedly the best cardio in the UFC, and Jack outcardioed him. Jack’s cardio is exceptional, his power is exceptional.”
Maddalena has finished 12 of his 18 career wins via KO/TKO. The Australian has also shown exceptional anti-grappling against elite wrestlers like Gilbert Burns and Muhammad. However, people expect Maddalena to face the toughest test of his career against ace grappler Makhachev.
