McGregor has been teasing a return ever since President Donald Trump announced plans for a UFC event at the White House in 2026. The card is now finally shaping up, with the Octagon to be set up at the South Lawn and other formalities, such as press conferences, to take place on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. McGregor has recently guaranteed that he will be part of the card, along with Michael Chandler.

“I’m on it [the White House card],” McGregor told Fox News. “This is me. Michael Chandler. Michael Chandler and myself have done ‘The Ultimate Fighter.’ We’ve had a good back-and-forth. He’s a good, tough guy. The Mac is excited to get back for sure.”
Chandler: ‘Nothing is Impossible’ for UFC White House Card
Chandler also hinted at the same, even calling for a main-event spot.
“Expect the unexpected,” Chandler told Fox News. “When you’ve got Dana White and Donald Trump, you got their brains behind it, their promotional brains behind it, nothing is impossible for these gentlemen… Conor and I, we have some history… I’m the opponent that he wants, he’s the opponent that I want, and it seems like that is a heck of a main event for UFC White House.”

McGregor hasn’t fought since breaking his leg in a trilogy loss against Dustin Poirier in 2021. McGregor coached “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 31 against Chandler, with a matchup between the two planned after the conclusion of the season. When the booking was finally made for UFC 303 last year, “Notorious” was forced out with a toe injury. The Dubliner has only won once in his last four outings.
Meanwhile, Chandler is 2-5 in the UFC. “Iron” was inactive for nearly two years while waiting for his fight against McGregor. The former Bellator lightweight champ is on a three-fight slump and coming off a stoppage loss against Paddy Pimblett at UFC 314 this past April.
