The fever pitch over who is to be fighting at the proposed UFC White House event in June 2026 has started to build, with current and former champions lobbying for spots on this historic showcase. The specifics for the fight card are not currently ready, with the company recently unveiling mockups that include a cage outside of the White House, a few thousand spectators watching cageside and tens of thousands more catching the fights on giant view screens put together all around the National Mall.

What is still entirely on the fence is regarding the type of name that could headline this event. The UFC will be six months into its new arrangement with Paramount next year, likely removing the possibility of the card being a pay-per-view. That has not stopped the likes of Jon Jones, McGregor, Michael Chandler, Ilia Topuria and several others from raising their hands as possible athletes on the billing.
McGregor, who has not competed in MMA since a pair of knockout losses to Dustin Poirier in 2021—the latter a broken leg for the Irishman—has been attached to a match against Chandler for years, with the two coaching against one another on the 31st season of “The Ultimate Fighter.” An injury ejected him from a 2024 battle with his rival, and he has since purchased a portion of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship while vowing to compete in the bare-knuckle boxing league before he retires—although he remains under contract with the UFC.
“Notorious” signaled he is up for the challenge of stepping back in the cage in 2026, putting up multiple training videos on his social media profiles.
“The Champ Champ returns,” he declared. “Just over eight months to UFC White House. I look forward to seeing my body shape up. My shot selection refining. My masterpiece to be painted. KO uimhir a fiche ar son na heire [KO number 20 for Ireland, per Google Translate]. UFC Whitehouse.”
Big Bucks, No Whammies
According to McGregor, he has a specific price tag attached to his appearance atop the UFC White House event. On Thursday, he posted on social media that he would like to be paid $100 million to compete, and he also wanted either the White House to grant or the UFC to provide 100 “Gold Card” visas to those he wants to attend live.
“$100 million to fight at the White House along with 100 U.S. ‘Golden Visas’ for myself and family and friends,” McGregor wrote. “I look very forward to entertaining the fighting world once again. A pleasure I never take for granted!”
The executive order signed on Sept. 19 created these special green card exemptions based on million-dollar donations either by individuals or corporations. The $1 or $2 million payment made either by a person or on behalf of them, respectively, is not a guarantee of being authorized and eligible of entry into the U.S. This means that in addition to the $100 million McGregor is asking for his purse, he is either asking for that same amount just for these special visas or double because they would be made on behalf of those looking to get into the country for this fight.
