All 10 athletes slated to compete on Week 9 of Dana White’s Contender Series made weight without issue on Monday.
The Contender Series takes place on Tuesday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and airs on ESPN+ at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The evening’s featured bout will see Lucas Caldas (154.5) square off against Magomed Zaynukov (155.5) at lightweight.
Caldas has been victorious in six of seven professional outings while fighting exclusively under the Shooto Brazil banner. The Thales Leites protege is coming off a first-round TKO win over Jorge da Costa at Shooto Brazil 129 on May 2.
Dagestan’s Zaynukov will carry a 7-0 pro mark into the Contender Series. In recent times, the 30-year-old known as “Wild Chanco” has secured a pair of decision victories in the UAE Warriors organization.
