Controversial Figure Andrew Tate Joins Boxing League as CEO; Debuts in November

Guess who’s coming to dinner.

On Dec. 20, internet influencer Andrew Tate will be making his professional boxing debut as the new head of the Misfits Boxing organization. The celebrity boxing league quietly announced on Thursday the departure of former Chief Executive Officer KSI, also known as Olajide Olatunji, from his status as the head of the company. In his stead will be the reviled public figure who is currently awaiting prosecution in multiple countries along with his brother for alleged rape, bodily harm and human trafficking.

The former kickboxer, who claims to sport an unconfirmable record of 76-9-1 with 32 KOs—Sherdog Fight Finder could currently verify 24 victories (16 by stoppage) opposite eight defeats—will be setting foot in the ring for the first time since a trio of matches in Romania in 2020. Tate has never fought as a boxer, although he did test himself once in MMA in 2010, against a man in Shane Kavanagh who never fought again. While Tate primarily competed in the European circuit, he never did rise to the major organization of the area, Glory Kickboxing. He will fight actor-turned-boxer Chase DeMoor, who holds a pro record of 4-2-1 with some exhibitions on his ledger.

Banned on Most Platforms

Several years ago, Tate was banned on Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, among other platforms, for his harmful speech about women. Since then, the change in ownership of the company previously known as Twitter has resulted in the reinvitation of Tate back to the social media site. When he came to the U.S., he was accused by his then-girlfriend of sexual assault and battery, and there is now an active criminal investigation into the Tate brothers stateside. According to the Guardian, the British law enforcement agencies are waiting for the Romanian hearings to complete before initiating their own.

Misfits Boxing, formed in London in 2022, is a branch off the Wasserman Group sports marketing and talent agency. This promotion operates independent of other boxing leagues, with the goal to stage the largest celebrity boxing matches. The lion’s share of the bouts have been under mixed rules or have been deemed exhibitions for those with pro boxing histories. This event, titled “The Fight Before Christmas,” will be held on Dec. 20 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in what is this company’s first jaunt to the UAE. The two will be vying for the organization’s belt held by DeMoor.
