Blaydes (19-5) recently revealed that he has been dealing with knee issues since 2020. The final nail in the coffin for Blaydes was an MCL tear in his split decision win over Rizvan Kuniev this past June. “Razor” has since undergone surgery and feels better than he has in years. Blaydes claims he couldn’t implement certain skills for years due to knee injuries. However, Blaydes feels he is a bigger threat right now with all the weapons in his arsenal.

“I know I’m not on the decline,” Blaydes told Home of Fight. “I know it’s super cliche, but I do feel better than I have in years. I have been having issues with my knees going back to 2020. I would just cough it up, I’d just adjust. I did adjust, but there are certain techniques I didn’t use anymore because it hurt my knees. Now I have those options again, I am much more dangerous opponent cause I have all my tools in my toolbelt again.”
Blaydes has fought the who’s who at heavyweight since his UFC debut in 2016. Blaydes has alternated losses against Sergei Pavlovich and Tom Aspinall with wins over Jailton Almeida and Kuniev in his last four outings.
