Pimblett (23-3) will fight Justin Gaethje for the interim lightweight title at UFC 324 on Jan. 24 in Las Vegas. With Pimblett’s elite grappling skillset, taking Gaethje (26-5) down would be the safer game plan. However, “The Baddy” vows to surprise fans and knock out Gaethje, who is known for his brutal slugfests. Pimblett believes he will dispatch Gaethje by the third round.

Not the Usual Approach
“Everyone’s going to be shocked,” Pimblett told Red Corner MMA. “I think I’m gonna knock him out. So people don’t expect that, people think I’m gonna grapple and take him down but I’m not. I’m gonna come out and put it on… I don’t see him getting past the third, just like Chandler.”
Pimblett has finished five of his seven UFC wins so far, two of them via knockout. Meanwhile, Gaethje has highlight-reel knockout wins over elite strikers like Edson Barboza, Donald Cerrone, Tony Ferguson and Dustin Poirier. The interim title fight was made because champion Ilia Topuria is taking a short hiatus due to personal reasons. The booking has faced a lot of backlash due to the exclusion of top contender Arman Tsarukyan.
