Josh Hokit is making waves in the UFC’s heavyweight division, but some of his recent post-fight remarks aren’t scoring him any points with promotion officials.

Hokit improved to 4-0 in the Octagon with a second-round stoppage of Derrick Lewis at UFC White House on Sunday in Washington, D.C. Hokit, who has gained attention for his cringe-worthy pro wrestling schtick, took a different route when speaking with Joe Rogan following his latest victory. During the segment, Hokit praised President Donald Trump, gave thanks to God and continued his verbal assault toward former two-division champion Alex Pereira before shifting gears entirely.

“Lastly, Michele Obama is a man,” Hokit said. “Am I right, America?”

‘I Hate That Kind of Nonsense’

Hokit’s decision to target the former First Lady in derogatory fashion did not please UFC CEO Dana White.

“I understand that the Obama’s are public figures but I’m completely against saying nasty and false things about people’s families,” White told Time. “Everyone knows my position on free speech but I hate that kind of nonsense.”

In a politically-charged climate, Hokit’s remarks have drawn widespread criticism. However, they have also brought more attention to the ex-NFL hopeful, which seems to be his goal. As far as his UFC career goes, Hokit has emerged as a legitimate Top 10 heavyweight with back-to-back victories over Curtis Blaydes and Lewis. He has accumulated four UFC victories in less than a year’s time since earning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series this past August and figures to be in line for another high-profile booking in his next Octagon appearance.

It’s currently unclear if Hokit will face any type of disciplinary action for his remarks from the UFC.
