Donchenko took on the battle-tested veteran in a welterweight matchup at UFC Vegas 113 on Saturday. The Ukrainian came out all guns blazing and started beating down Morono from the onset. However, Morono, sometimes considered too tough for his own good, refused to go down. While Donchenko eventually earned a unanimous decision win, he also suffered some damage from Morono.

While some fighters only learn from their losses, Donchenko has learned a lesson from his win against Morono. Donchenko found his performance “stupid” and vows not to repeat it in the future. While Donchenko doesn’t mind a brutal fight, he believes he could have been much smarter about it. The 24-year-old guarantees a brutal but smarter version of himself going forward.
A Smart and Brutal Future
“I learned a lot,” Donchenko said at his post-fight press conference. “Some people only learn after losses, they are so excited about wins. I won this fight, but I’m stupid, I need to learn a lot. Because I cannot fight like this anymore. I can fight in a brutal way, but not like this. I can do it much smarter. Today it was the stupidest version of myself. And I promise in the future you will see smart and brutal Daniil inside the Octagon.”
This was Donchenko’s (13-2) sophomore UFC outing after a first-round knockout win in his promotional debut in September 2025. Donchenko extended his overall winning streak to six with the win over Morono. Meanwhile, Morono (24-13) is in a precarious position, having dropped four in a row now.
