Darren Till slams UFC’s current direction, ‘can’t watch’ Dana White interviews anymore

Darren Till may or may not be done competing in mixed martial arts for good, but he is definitely losing interest in following it these days.

Till (18-5-1), a longtime Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight and middleweight contender who parted ways with the promotion in 2022, is aware of the UFC Freedom 250 card taking place on Sunday at the White House, but claims he couldn’t care less about it. In a conversation this week with Ariel Helwani, “The Gorilla” shared his views on what he sees as declining overall interest in the industry leader. Nonetheless, he was careful to separate his criticisms of the company from those of its CEO, Dana White. Till’s disappointment with White started when the UFC honcho said he didn’t care about criticism regarding the UFC’s use of artificial intelligence in promotional videos.

“Not interested [in the White House card],” the 33-year-old Englishman said. “As a fan, I just don’t think there’s that much hype around the UFC anymore. I really don’t. For me, there’s no hype; I don’t get excited for fights, whereas I used to, and I don’t know why that is. Maybe it’s not being promoted right. I don’t like saying this because he is a good guy, but I’ve just really gone off every interview that Dana does. I can’t watch any interview to do with him anymore, I just can’t.”

While Till initially left the door open to a return to MMA when he left the UFC, he has experienced a career renaissance in the squared circle. Till has picked up three wins in Misfits boxing, including a title win against fellow UFC veteran Luke Rockhold last year. Till also picked up a knockout win in his Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship debut last month.

UFC Freedom 250 takes place June 14 on the south lawn of the White House in Washington, D.C. The seven-fight card is headlined by a lightweight title unification bout between Topuria and Gaethje, while Alex Pereira and Cityl Gane are scheduled to fight for the interim heavyweight belt in the co-main event.
