Lopes is scheduled to challenge Alexander Volkanovski for the featherweight title in a rematch at UFC 325 on Jan. 31 at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia. The matchup has faced severe backlash from fans, as Volkanovski just beat Lopes this past April.

Meanwhile, undefeated contenders Movsar Evloev and Lerone Murphy were widely considered frontrunners in the race for a title shot. Several fighters expressed their disappointment with Evloev and Murphy’s title shot snub. However, Lopes is seemingly unfazed by the severe criticism surrounding the rematch. Lopes hinted that others might have missed out on a title shot due to inactivity. The Brazilian advised fellow contenders to get to work instead of cribbing on social media.
Lopes Urges Others to ‘Get to Work’
“My face when I saw everyone crying,” Lopes wrote on X. “Sitting around, he won’t give you a title fight. Get to work and stop whining on social media.”
Volkanovski (27-4) started his second title run by winning the vacant belt against Lopes in April. Lopes (27-7) rebounded from the loss with an emphatic stoppage win over Jean Silva in September. Meanwhile, Evloev (19-0) has beaten Lopes, Arnold Allen and Aljamain Sterling in his last three outings. And Murphy (17-0) is riding a nine-fight winning streak in the UFC with wins over the likes of Edson Barboza, Josh Emmett, Dan Ige and Aaron Pico.
