A video recently surfaced where Dvalishvili is recording himself in a car with two fans. The former UFC bantamweight champ revealed that he couldn’t find his own car in the parking lot. Dvalishvili joked that it was the result of taking too much brain damage from fighting. The fans, named Raul and Carla, offered to drive “The Machine” to his car.
“This is Merab with Raul and Carla. I got lost here somewhere,” Dvalishvili said in the video. “Raul will drive me around now. He offered me. Thank you, Raul, brother. We’re gonna find my car. That’s what happens when you get punched too many times.”
The video was first shared from the Instagram account “prospectgramajo.” The Instagram user, presumably Raul, later revealed that he was in Las Vegas to celebrate his jiu-jitsu purple belt. Raul saw Dvalishvili looking lost in the parking lot, staring at his phone. When he confirmed that it was Dvalishvili, Raul initially approached him for a picture. Upon learning that Dvalishvili couldn’t find his car, Raul offered help, but the Georgian politely declined. The fan had to repeatedly insist for Dvalishvili to finally accept his help.
An Unforgettable Encounter
“Went to Vegas to celebrate my purple belt debut and her birthday, after eating we were parking at the top of the garage(rooftop), locked the car and as normal, people are walking in and out of the hotel I saw a guy looking at his phone confused from afar (I’m blind). I was thinking to myself, ‘This looks like Merab.’ I tried not making it obvious but as I got closer it was him,” Raul wrote on Instagram. “I humbly asked him for a picture ‘sure brother no worries’ after taking the picture I asked if he’s okay and he said, “I’m just trying to find my car I’ve checked two locations already.” He was showing me his phone and I was shocked this man been walking for a MINUTE at this point. I told myself, bro I’m in front of a UFC champion right now. ‘Let me help you brother’ he humbly declined and I kept insisting. Which led to ‘thank you so much man’ so as you see the picture I have on my post with him from that area we walked to my car and he kept thanking me.
“We both told him to sit in the front since we always watch his fights, as we’re planning out which parking garage to go first he asks me ‘you have your phone?’ I said yeah! ‘Good I’m going to make video for you’ so this is where I hand him my phone and immediately starts recording. Honestly I tried holding my shit together because of how excited I was. Probably one of the craziest things that could happen to me. After the video was taken we talked about jiu-jitsu, he was able to see my page and we chopped it up for a good 10 minutes. [I don’t know’ if it was his energy or whatever but I later ended up winning $1,000 in the Casino. Glad to be part of his side quests. Merab is a solid humble guy, didn’t expect anything less. Hes the people’s champ Nice meeting you good sir.”
Dvalishvili (21-5) lost his bantamweight title to Petr Yan (20-5) at UFC 323 on Saturday. While Dvalishvili was likely joking, he took some visible damage against “No Mercy” in the bout.
