Felice Herrig expected to return from nearly two years off to face Virna Jandiroba at UFC 252

Felice Herris is expected to make her long awaited return to action against Virna Jandiroba at UFC 252 on Aug. 15.

Multiple sources confirmed the matchup to MMA Fighting on Thursday following an initial report from ESPN.

The fight will serve as Herrig’s first action since 2018 when she lost a unanimous decision to Michelle Waterson at UFC 229. Herrig had her next fight scheduled in June 2019 but she was forced out after suffering a torn ACL in training.

Following knee surgery, Herrig took several months to recover before revealing just recently that she was back in training to prepare for her return.

Now it appears she’ll return in August as the former Ultimate Fighter season 20 competitor attempts to get back in the win column after suffering back-to-back losses in her past two outings.

As for Jandiroba, the Brazilian strawweight will make her return after picking up the first win of her UFC career this past December with a submission victory over Mallory Martin. Jandiroba is currently 1-1 in the UFC with her loss coming to former strawweight champion Carla Esparza.

UFC 252 will be headlined by a heavyweight title fight as Stipe Miocic faces off with Daniel Cormier for the third time.
