Ronda Rousey could be testing her boxing skills at some point in 2026. | Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com
Ronda Rousey could be on the verge of making a return to combat sports — but it might not be with the UFC.
According to a report from Boxing Scene, Rousey and Katie Taylor are in “active negotiations” for a boxing match in Las Vegas next summer. It’s currently unclear who would promote the fight, but Netflix is mentioned as a potential broadcast partner.
Rousey, who is now 38 years old, was one-half of the first woman’s bout under the UFC banner and quickly emerged as one of the promotion’s biggest stars during her peak. The Olympic judo bronze medalist won her first 12 professional bouts — capturing titles in the UFC and Strikeforce along the way — before exiting the sport on the heels of back-to-back knockout losses against Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes. In recent months, “Rowdy” has fueled speculation that a comeback is imminent with a series of training videos on social media, including one post that where she stated that she was ”finding my love” for MMA again..
A Significant Gap in Experience
Since stepping away from the UFC in 2016, Rousey had a prominent role in the WWE over two separate stints. However, she does not have any professional boxing experience.
Taylor, meanwhile, owns a 25-1 professional boxing record and is the eighth boxer in history to hold all four titles — IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO — at the same time. The 39-year-old Irish standout enjoyed perhaps the biggest spotlight of her professional tenure in her last two outings, when she took back-to-back decision victories over Amanda Serrano in bouts that were streamed on Netflix. Taylor is believed to be approaching the end of her fighting career.
