Former UFC, Combate Americas fighter Erik Perez signs with Bellator MMA

Erik Perez is taking his talents to Bellator MMA.

The veteran bantamweight who competed in both the UFC and Combate Americas has officially inked a deal with the Viacom-owned promotion. Perez’s manager Ali Abdelaziz announced the news via Twitter with Bellator officials confirming the news to MMA Fighting on Tuesday.

After competing on the regional fight circuit, Perez joined the UFC roster in 2012 where he amassed an impressive 7-2 record including a stunning 17-second knockout in his second appearance inside the Octagon.

Once his contract was up, Perez opted not to return to the UFC and instead inked a deal with Combate Americas back in 2017. He eventually debuted in 2018 and won two fights under the Combate banner.

Now Perez will join the roster at Bellator MMA where he will jump into a deep bantamweight division where Kyoji Horiguchi currently stands as champion.

There’s no word yet when Perez will make his promotional debut following his last fight in Combate that took place in Nov. 2018.
