Gable Steveson is out to prove a point in his Dirty Boxing debut.

An Olympic gold medalist in freestyle wrestling, Stevenson (1-0) is going out of his comfort zone for his Dirty Boxing debut against Billy Swanson at DBX 4 on Oct. 30. Dirty Boxing is a custom-rules boxing match that allows elbows and ground-and-pound. Steveson explained that he wants to show the world that he can strike as well as wrestle.

“This is the best thing for me because I want to answer all these questions,” Steveson told MMA Junkie. “Can Gable Steveson strike? We’ll see Oct. 30. Which you will see. Can Gable Steveson wrestle? You saw Sept. 12 at LFA… I want people to be fearful of the ground game, the takedown game. And now I want to show the world that, ‘Hey this guy can go out there and box a guy up.’”

Steveson won freestyle gold at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. He has since tried his hand at the WWE and the NFL, which didn’t play out successfully. Steveson returned to combat sports earlier this year, suffering a loss against Wyatt Hendrickson at the NCAA finals in one of the biggest upsets in NCAA history. Steveson made his MMA debut this past September, scoring a first-round knockout win over Braden Peterson at LFA 217. The former two-time NCAA champ trains with former Ultimate Fighting Championship two-division champion Jon Jones.
