Joe Rogan on Highly-Touted Heavyweight: ‘Everyone’s F—-ed’ When He Joins UFC

Joe Rogan is buying into the hype.

The longtime UFC commentator and popular podcast host is a believer in the talents of Gable Steveson, a two-time NCAA national champion and five-time All-American wrestler who recently transition to MMA.

The 25-year-old has won his first two bouts via KO/TKO in a combined 2:02, showcasing a frightening blend of power and athleticism in the process.

‘That’s the Guy’

“The heavyweight division is so devoid of talent. Gable Steveson is the f—ing guy,” Rogan said on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast. “That’s the guy. He’s not even in the UFC yet. Olympic gold medalist. F—-ing freak athlete. 250 pounds, moves like a cat.”

Rogan was particularly impressed with Stevenson’s most recent outing, when he knocked Kevin Hein out with a left hand while transitioning to a takedown. His opponent was already out when Steveson deposited him on the canvas.

“I sent a text message to Dana White, I sent him a video of Gable’s last fight. I said, ‘Everyone’s f—-ed when this guy comes out [to the UFC].’ He KO’ed this guy with a left hand and then took him down as he was knocked out.

“The speed that this guy has. Really good striking already, and he’s only been striking for like a f—ing year.”

In addition to two MMA victories, Steveson boasts a 15-second stoppage of Billy Swanson under the Dirty Boxing banner on Oct. 30.
