The promotion on Wednesday announced that it has re-signed Johnny Eblen to an exclusive, mult-fight contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Eblen had a 16-fight professional winning streak snapped in his last outing, when he suffered a fifth-round submission defeat to Costello van Steenis at PFL Cape Town on July 19. Had Eblen survived the final 10 seconds of that fight, it’s likely that he would have emerged with a decision triumph. Instead, Van Steenis was crowned as the undisputed PFL middleweight champion.
Unfinished Business
“Pressure” first captured championship gold when he outpointed Gegard Mousasi in June 2022 to become Bellator MMA’s middleweight king. He defended that title twice more before the organization was purchased by the PFL. Eblen also earned victories over Impa Kasanganay and Fabian Edwards under the PFL banner before falling to van Steenis.
“I have some unfinished business here,” Eblen wrote in response to the PFL announcement on Instagram.
Eblen is likely referencing a desired rematch with van Steenis, though his next PFL appearance hasn’t been confirmed at this point in time.
“Respect to Costello—you’re a warrior and a tough challenge,” Eblen wrote in a statement shortly after PFL Cape Town. “But this story isn’t over. We’ll run it back. You may have won the battle, but I will win the war.”
