Joe Rogan Shares How Brendan Schaub Was Awed by Khamzat Chimaev’s Grappling

Joe Rogan recently added to the aura surrounding Khamzat Chimaev

Chimaev’s wrestling is arguably among the best in the history of MMA. Rogan recently recalled Brendan Schaub being awed by Chimaev’s wrestling. The former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight visited Chimaev’s training camp, from where he called Rogan urgently to discuss “Borz’s” wrestling. Schaub told Rogan that Chimaev was mauling All-American Division I wrestlers and elite jiu-jitsu black belts. When offered to spar with Chimaev, Schaub didn’t hesitate in declining.

“Brendan Schaub had been to his training camp, and he called up and said, ‘Bro, we gotta talk,’” Rogan told Michael Page during an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience. “He said, ‘I just got back from watching Khamzat training, and I’ve never seen anything like it in my f—-ng life.’ He’s like, ‘Dude, [Khamzat] is mopping the floor with Division I All-American world-class grapplers and jiu-jitsu black belts.’ They asked him if he wanted to spar with him. Schaub was like, ‘F—k you, I’m no going in there.’”

Chimaev Has Been Dominant Thus Far in MMA Career

Chimaev has previously been coached by former Olympic gold medallist Buvaisar Saitiev, widely considered the greatest freestyle wrestler in history. Chimaev has only gone the distance three times in his 15 career wins. Chimaev dethroned Dricus Du Plessis via unanimous decision in a dominant grappling display at UFC 319 this past August to become middleweight champion.
