John Dodson Still Open to UFC Return as Free Agency Period Begins

John Dodson is now allowed to field offers from promotions as a free agent.

The former “Ultimate Fighter” winner fought out his previous UFC contract when he earned a win over Pedro Munhoz in March and now he’s been cleared to take offers from any and all suitors interested in retaining his services.

According to Dodson’s manager, Ricky Kottenstette, the fighter did sit down to try and negotiate a new deal with the UFC, but the two sides couldn’t quite come to an agreement during this last series of talks.

Kottenstette says the UFC then gave permission for Dodson to begin fielding offers from other promotions. While Dodson will absolutely listen to what other suitors have to say, that doesn’t mean that he won’t be coming back to the UFC.

“We’re definitely open to returning to the UFC,” Kottenstette said. “Right now we’re just seeing what other offers are out there as John looks to do what’s best for him and his family.”

Kottenstette added that the UFC has been nothing but professional during the negotiations with Dodson as they tried to come to an agreement on a new deal.

Right now there’s no timeline on when Dodson will make his decision, but he’s anxious to continue his career in 2018 after picking up a win in his last fight.
