Jon Jones isn’t giving up on his UFC White House dreams.

Jones recently confirmed that he is not retired, citing his return to the UFC’s drug testing pool. The former UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion also claims to be training five days a week for his desired return at the White House card next year. However, he also admitted that it ultimately depends on UFC CEO Dana White.

“I’m not retired,” Jones told EAG Sports Management. “I’m actively preparing five days a week, and I’m in the UFC drug testing pool… I don’t really know, it’s kind of out of my control right now. I’m training for the event. I’ll be ready for the event. That’s my goal. That’s my intention. But ultimately it’s up to the boss.”

Jones halted the heavyweight division for over a year, avoiding a title unification fight with interim champ Tom Aspinall. Despite Aspinall being the interim champ, Jones insisted upon defending his title against Stipe Miocic. After defeating Miocic at UFC 309, “Bones” hinted that he would take the fight against Aspinall for a massive payday.

’Bones’ Had an Interesting Summer

Meanwhile, White assured fans that negotiations were underway and the fight would eventually happen. Rumors surfaced that Jones even unofficially agreed to the matchup for a mammoth purse before surprisingly backing out. Aspinall was finally promoted to undisputed champ after White unceremoniously announced Jones’ retirement at a post-fight presser in Baku, Azerbaijan, this past June.

Shortly thereafter, President Donald Trump announced plans for a UFC card at the White House in 2026. “Bones” returned to the testing pool just weeks after his retirement, claiming to have found a “purpose” to fight after the White House card was announced. However, while White didn’t shut down the idea of Jones fighting on the card, he doesn’t sound very enthusiastic and has questioned Jones’ reliability.
