Jon Jones scolds UFC Vegas 20 heavyweights after lackluster fight, Francis Ngannou responds

Jon Jones wasn’t thrilled with a five-round main event between Ciryl Gane and Jairzinho Rozenstruik.

As he often does after UFC events, the former light heavyweight champion took to Twitter to opine about the result. But this time, he chided the fighters in the heavyweight division he’s soon to join, giving the verbal thumbs down to Gane and Rozenstruik after their lackluster five-round affair on Saturday.

Jones’ heavyweight debut has yet to be confirmed, but UFC President Dana White has said the ex-champ will get the winner of a UFC 260 title fight between champ Stipe Miocic and Francis Ngannou. The heavyweight bout is a rematch of a fight Miocic won by decision to hand Ngannou his first UFC loss.

The physical transformation of “Bones” has been apparent through social media posts showing the ex-champ lifting weights and training. Jones recently showed off some moves in the cage and boasted he moves “pretty good for a fat boy.

There was one fighter amused by Jones’ jab on Saturday night – Ngannou, who previously bristled at the suggestion that the ex-champ may steal his spot in line before White clarified that he would get the next title shot.

Ngannou didn’t immediately bounce back from his loss to Miocic, losing a lackluster decision against Derrick Lewis. But he subsequently went on a tear, knocking out four straight opponents to secure another shot at gold. Most recently, he stopped Rozenstruik in 20 seconds with a flurry of punches.

For Rozenstruik, the loss to Gane was his second loss in the octagon and further delayed a title bid. Gane’s win, however, also didn’t present a strong case for an imminent title shot.

Jones made sure to point that out.
