Gaethje wants to avenge two losses where he didn’t show at his best. Gaethje recently revealed that he was in a bike crash ahead of his title challenge against Charles Oliveira in 2022. Gaethje went on to suffer a first-round submission loss against Oliveira at UFC 274. Another loss Gaethje wants to avenge is his BMF title loss against Max Holloway at UFC 300 in 2024. Gaethje claims it was an issue with his mindset that led to a lopsided beatdown en route to a last-minute knockout loss against Holloway.

Gaethje (26-5) is now scheduled to fight Paddy Pimblett (23-3) for the interim lightweight title at UFC 324 on Jan. 24 in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, Holloway (27-8) is scheduled to defend his BMF title against Oliveira (36-11) at UFC 326 on March 7 in Las Vegas. Gaethje looks forward to fighting the winner of the BMF title fight in the future.
‘Two Fatal Mistakes’
“If I want one fight back – the winner of the BMF belt,” Gaethje told ESPN. “Those are the only two guys that have ever got me not at my best, and for two different reasons. Talk about being in a bike crash 18 days before the Oliveira fight, banging my head off the road. I was compromised walking into that fight, and for Max it was a mindset thing. Those are the only two guys that ever got not the best of me. Two fatal mistakes.”
