Katlyn Chookagian will face another Shevchenko in her next fight.
The one-time flyweight title contender came up short in her bid to defeat Valentina Shevchenko earlier this year. But now, Chookagian will take on her sister Antonina Shevchenko at the upcoming UFC event on May 30.
Multiple sources confirmed the fight to MMA Fighting on Thursday following an initial report from MMA Junkie.
The fight between Chookagian and Shevchenko had previously been discussed, but the matchup fell apart when the UFC’s scheduled endured several changes due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Now the flyweights are scheduled to meet on May 30 with the UFC expecting the show to take place at their Apex facility in Las Vegas.
Chookagian looks to bounce back after suffering a TKO loss to Valentina Shevchenko back in February, which ended a recent two-fight winning streak. As for Antonina Shevchenko, she’s gone 2-1 in the UFC since joining the promotion by way of Dana White’s Contender Series.
Chookagian vs. Shevchenko is the latest addition to a growing card on May 30 with former welterweight champion Tyron Woodley facing Gilbert Burns in the main event.
