Chimaev (15-0) has looked nearly invincible throughout his UFC career, except for closely-contested bouts against Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns. “Borz” ragdolled Dricus Du Plessis for five rounds to win the middleweight title at UFC 319 in August 2025.

Gordon Ryan recently claimed that he has a strategy for fighters to beat Chimaev. The jiu-jitsu ace advised fighters to go for repeated granby rolls against Chimaev instead of just one attempt. Ryan further suggested that Chimaev’s opponents should threaten submissions during the rolls and use the opportunity to get back on their feet. However, Chimaev isn’t buying any of it.
Not Buying It
“Big bulls—t,” Chimaev wrote.
Meanwhile, UFC welterweight Joaquin Buckley invited Chimaev on the Overdogs podcast to explain why Ryan’s strategy won’t work.
“[Khamzat Chimaev] Let get you on the show explaining why it’s [bulls—t],” Buckley wrote.
Chimaev replied: “[Buckley] you too same s—t.”
