Khamzat Chimaev Willing to Fight Alex Pereira at Heavyweight

Khamzat Chimaev has offered to fight Alex Pereira at heavyweight after initially getting rejected.

Pereira stoped Magomed Ankalaev in 80 seconds in the main event at UFC 320 on Saturday to reclaim his light heavyweight title. Chimaev immediately called out Pereira to settle unfinished “business” between them. However, Pereira turned down the offer, saying he is only interested in a superfight at heavyweight next.

“First, thanks for congratulating me, but all I want is a superfight,” Pereira said at the UFC 320 post-fight press conference. “I want to fight at heavyweight. But all I can say is thank you.”

But “Poatan” isn’t looking to fight the winner of the upcoming heavyweight title fight between Tom Aspinall and Ciryl Gane. Pereira instead called out Jon Jones after paying a tribute to the former champ’s late brother Arthur Jones, who suddenly passed away at the age of 39.

Chimaev Believes He’s the Best Superfight Option

Chimaev hasn’t lost hope of facing Pereira, though. The undefeated middleweight champ has offered to fight Pereira at heavyweight. “Borz” believes Pereira won’t receive a bigger superfight matchup than against him.

“I’m ready to fight you in the heavyweight [division], you won’t find a super fight than our fight. No chama, this is SMASH EVERYBODY,” Chimaev wrote.

Chimaev dethroned Dricus Du Plessis via a dominant unanimous decision at UFC 319 this past August. Meanwhile, Pereira defended the light heavyweight title three before losing it to Ankalaev earlier this year.
