Austin Lingo is 6-0 and is set for another fight in Legacy Fighting Alliance.
Lingo will take on Chris Hatley in the LFA 73 co-main event at the Bomb Factory in Dallas on Friday night. Not only is it a big spot for Lingo, but he is also fighting in the same city where he trains and lives. To be able to once again fight in Texas is amazing for the Fortis MMA product.
“Oh man, it is awesome. I love to fight in my home town. It is great fighting here,” Lingo said to Sherdog.com.
Although “Lights Out” is undefeated, he knows he can’t take “Solo” lightly. His opponent has knockout power with three wins by KO/TKO. Lingo believes if he sticks to the game plan, he will get his hand raised and improve to 7-0.
“I got to go in there and I can’t underestimate him. He has power. So just go in there and use my jab and use my boxing and defend the takedown. Just stick to the game plan and everything will go well,” Lingo said.
Should he go 7-0, the chances of being in the UFC only grow by the day. Although it is his goal to fight in the Las Vegas-based promotion, he believes next year is when gets signed — whether that’s through the Contender Series or an official UFC contract.
“I hope so. I mean next year I will be more ready for the UFC. There are a lot of UFC guys in my gym, but next year would be perfect,” he concluded. “I’d be ready for it then.”
