Lerone Murphy is watching tape on Alexander Volkanovski.
Murphy is widely considered to be the next UFC featherweight title challenger. Murphy claims he has already noticed flaws in the undisputed champion’s game, which he plans to exploit when they meet.

‘I’m a technician,” Murphy said on the “Believe You Me” podcast. “I watch a lot of tape on guys. So I understand the flaws. I already see flaws in Volkanovski’s game that I’m gonna exploit.”
Murphy Made the Most of Short-Notice Opportunity
Murphy jumped up on an opportunity to earn a title shot, likely stealing it from Movsar Evloev. While Evloev has long been the top featherweight contender, a title shot has evaded him so far. The Russian was finally expected to seal himself a gold bid if he foiled the debut of the highly-touted former Bellator star Aaron Pico. However, an injury forced Evloev out of the booking, which was scheduled for UFC Abu Dhabi this past July.
The UFC was looking for a replacement opponent for Pico, and Murphy answered the call for a UFC 319 booking on three weeks’ notice. The undefeated Englishman dispatched Pico in the opening round with a highlight-reel spinning back elbow in the co-main event at UFC 319 last month. While Evloev has suffered from a lack of opponents, Volkanovski has acknowledged him as the most legitimate contender and has always expressed a willingness to fight him. However, “The Great” recently said that despite his next efforts, Murphy is likely jumping ahead of Evloev for the next title shot.
