Matt Serra recently went off on Dricus Du Plessis coach, Morne Visser.
Du Plessis lost his middleweight title in a lopsided unanimous decision loss against Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 319 earlier this month. Despite Chimaev establishing a control time of over 21 minutes, Du Plessis’ coach complained of a lack of action. Even referee Marc Goddard standing them up twice didn’t suffice for Visser, who believes the referee should have forced more action. Serra doesn’t see Visser blaming the referee as a good look. The former UFC welterweight champ noted that “Stillknocks” didn’t have any answer to Chimaev’s wrestling.

“It’s never a good point when Dricus’ coach starts saying, ‘Ah, the ref should have stood him up.’ What are you talking about? That’s what you’re saying,” Serra said on UFC Unfiltered .”Get that guy away from a mic. Don’t say that, ‘It was really the ref’s fault.’ Dude, you had no answer. He was blaming the ref for the lack of action. That’s not a good sign.”
UFC Veterans Defend Chimaev’s Work at UFC 319
UFC middleweight Caio Borralho also chimed in, citing Chimaev’s multiple crucifixes over du Plessis.
“You want him to stand [them] up while in a crucifix or what,” Borralho said.
While some bloodthirsty fans criticized Chimaev’s performance, UFC vets and fighters defended “Borz,” labeling the fans casual. UFC commentator Joe Rogan and former champ Demetrious Johnson even criticized Goddard’s intervention in the fight.
