Max Holloway Slams Arman Tsarukyan for Headbutting Dan Hooker at Weigh-ins

Max Holloway doesn’t think Arman Tsarukyan was wise to headbutt Dan Hooker ahead of their fight.

Tsarukyan (23-3) headlined UFC Qatar last weekend in a lightweight matchup against Hooker (24-13). Tsarukyan looked flawless while submitting “The Hangman” in the second round with an arm-triangle choke. While Tsarukyan is usually not one for much drama, there was one stray incident leading up to UFC Qatar. “Ahalkalakets” headbutted Hooker during their face-off after the weigh-ins. Explaining himself, Tsarukyan accused Hooker of trying to intimidate him.

Risking a Payday

Regardless of the reason, Holloway believes it was “stupid” of Tsarukyan to headbutt Hooker. Holloway reasons that the fight could have fallen through if Hooker had gotten injured with the headbutt.

“That’s stupid,” Holloway said on YouTube. “You’re not getting paid at the f—-ing weigh ins. You’re getting paid for the fight. Imagine you hurt a guy before the fight, the fight is off, bro. You gotta be really stupid to do something like that. Lose your pay for what? The emotions got better of you f—-ing for a little bit? So stupid.”

Tsarukyan is riding a five-fight winning streak and 10-2 in the UFC. The Russian is currently eyeing a long-overdue lightweight title shot against Ilia Topuria
