Molly McCann shared a heartfelt message in the aftermath of Paddy Pimblett’s loss to Justin Gaethje

Pimblett fought Gaethje for the interim lightweight title in the main event at UFC 324 on Saturday. Despite a valiant display of grit from Pimblett, Gaethje battered “The Baddy” over five rounds to earn a unanimous decision victory.

Heartbroken and Proud

Pimblett’s longtime training partner and friend, McCann, extended her support to him after the loss. McCann knows that it wasn’t Pimblett’s first loss, nor will it be the last. However, “Meatball” is confident that Pimblett will only grow from his loss against Gaethje. While McCann is heartbroken for Pimblett on one hand, she is also extremely proud of her friend’s performance.

“Not the first first loss and won’t be the last, but he’ll grow from this and so will the team,” McCann wrote on Instagram stories. “Heart’s broken for you Padge, but couldn’t be more proud of you either.”

McCann (14-8) and Pimblett (23-4) have shared almost a sibling-like bond while training together at Next Generation MMA in Liverpool. While McCann never quite rose to the top of her division, she has been a major attraction on many UFC London cards alongside her buddy, Pimblett. McCann hung up her gloves for good last year following a loss to Alexa Thainara in London. Meanwhile, Pimblett suffered his first UFC loss against Gaethje after going undefeated in his first seven outings in the promotion.
