Tom Aspinall Reacts to Dana White’s Latest Comments Regarding Eye Injury

A subtle jab from Dana White recently took Tom Aspinall by surprise.

The UFC started the Paramount era with UFC 324 on Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. While Aspinall was not a part of the card, Dana White was asked about the heavyweight champion’s eye injury at the post-fight press conference. White didn’t seem very convinced about Aspinall’s claims of undergoing surgery in both eyes. The UFC head honcho believes Aspinall will likely get injections. White didn’t want to comment any further and asked reporters to take Aspinall’s opinion instead.

“Don’t let me talk about Tom Aspinall’s eye,” White said. “Apparently he is going in for a second surgery or just had it. And by surgery I mean injections, I have no idea. Get a quote from him, God f—-ing forbid I say something about it.”

Catching Strays from the Boss

Reacting to White’s comments, Aspinall said: “Jesus, catching strays in my living room on a Sunday morning.”

Things haven’t been very cordial between White and Aspinall (15-3) since his fight against Ciryl Gane. Aspinall put his heavyweight title on the line for the first time against Gane at UFC 321 this past October. The fight unfortunately ended in a n -contest after Gane simultaneously poked Aspinall in both eyes in the first round. Aspinall was left unable to continue, leaving fans divided.

Many fans and pundits saw Gane outclassing Aspinall on the feet for the little while that the fight lasted. White said that Aspinall didn’t look like he wanted to be in the fight. Aspinall also expressed his disappointment over White’s comments, leading to a seemingly sour relationship.
