Waldo Cortes-Acosta wants to punish Curtis Blaydes for talking trash.
Cortes-Acosta faced Derrick Lewis at UFC 324 on Saturday in Las Vegas. Cortes-Acosta had the clear speed advantage as he started piecing apart Lewis, who just swung for wild knockout shots. Lewis surprisingly decided to stay on the ground after he slipped and fell in the second round. Cortes-Acosta immediately unleashed heavy ground-and-pound, forcing the stoppage.

Cortes-Acosta subsequently called out Curtis Blaydes for a matchup at UFC Mexico, which goes down on Feb. 28 at the CDMX Arena in Mexico City. “Salsa Boy” wants to take Blaydes’ head off for allegedly trash talking online. While Blaydes is an ace grappler who has only lost against elite opposition, the Dominican believes he has faced harder opponents in his last three outings.
‘I Want to Rip His Head Off’
“I’ve called for Curtis Blaydes,” Cortes-Acosta said at the post-fight press conference. “I would love to fight in Mexico. I think it would be an honor to fight in Mexico… I don’t think it’s gonna be a tough challenge. I do believe I have had harder challenges, especially in the last three fights. I want Curtis Blaydes because he has been saying some things on social media. And people who talk crap, I don’t like them, so I want to rip his head off.”
Cortes-Acosta’s (17-2) win over Lewis was his fifth win on six outings within a span of 10 months. Meanwhile, Blaydes (19-5) is 2-2 in his last four and coming off a split-decision win over debutant Rizvan Kuniev.
